Tea and Numbers

An ever increasing Constitutional ideal has recently, and most identifiably, manifested itself as the TEA Party. It seems that the TEA Party is getting a lot of press lately, particularly since the election of our Nation’s latest Chief Executive. Constitutional government along with the history and truth of tax relief are being discussed openly and honestly.

This movement, in my estimation, has roots drawing it’s lifeblood from the somewhat diverse spectrum flanked by main-stream Republican discontent, and strict Libertarianism. The truth of the matter is that this movement has opened the communication lines for folks to re-visit 8th and 9th grade government curriculum. The hazy details of our Nation’s vital underpinnings of Constitutional governance are on the minds of an ever-increasing mass of the general public. More and more of your neighbors are finding common ground as they recognize that the status quo of ever-increasing government spending, coupled with varying degrees of ineptitude, cannot be sustained or tolerated. It is exciting to witness, but this movement has an enemy which has been waiting to pounce on such an awakening.

As the TEA Party was gaining steam, the acronym TEA was broken down as Taxed Enough Already. An exercise which members of the early TEA Party orchestrated was a mass mailing of tea bags sent to an un-obedient representation in D.C. on tax day 2009. Good attention getter, but opened the door for sophomoric innuendo.

A re-alignment is taking place in this present time, and I pray it is not too late for our beloved Republic. The enemy previously mentioned can best be described, I believe, in the popular 3 letter acronym format as the TIC Party. As defined by dictionary.com, a tic is “a sudden, spasmodic, painless, involuntary muscular contraction…” As defined by me, the TIC Party can be identified either as a “blood-feeding parasite” (sp Tick – can’t win them all), or as the Party of Taxes Increasing Continually. This party is far-reaching, and has its hand in Colorado’s cookie jar despite the handcuffs of Colorado’s 1993 electoral citizen’s arrest – aka TABOR. The trained muscular contraction of this clandestine party has been to override any attempts to reign in government spending whatever.

The facts show that the State’s budget has grown by $6.4 BILLION in the three short years from 2007 to 2010. In other words, since the middle of President Obama’s campaign for the White house, we have seen a 15% increase in State spending! The Colorado citizens as an educated whole need to take a hard look at backing legislation proposed under Amendments 60, 61, and Proposition 101. These are truly responsible measures, designed to provide tax relief for Colorado citizenry, while maintaining essential funding for State education and Infrastructure budgets. No matter what can be said about these measures, no tax cut in history ever hurt any economy, nor any limit on government borrowing or deficit spending. Tax relief never costs ANY private jobs. It leaves money in private hands to CREATE NEW JOBS. It is proven fact that when people are permitted more of their earned wages to be spent freely, economies thrive.
