Colorado Supreme Court Upholds Ban of Smoking on Stage

Smoking

Using “public health” as a reason to ban smoking in a theater where patrons voluntarily pay to enjoy a play or show epitomizes the “nanny state” religion of protecting ourselves whether we asked for it or not. Not that banning an actor from “lighting up” a ciggarette in a room is particulary dangerous anyway. Like so many other things, the state and media have perpetuated the second hand smoke myth to the point where it has become “conventional wisdom.” The “science is in” card has been played again just like all the other nonsensical reports and science on: the impeding ice age (circa 1970s), population explosion (70s-80s), acid rain (80s), (global warming 90-00s), and the current state of fear, climate change (previously know as global warming but as we all can feel…the earth is cooling.) For evidence that second hand smoke is nothing but a smoke screen for nanniests to control other peoples decisions see the 1994 Congressional Research Report or the 2003 British Medical Journal Report or google “second hand smoke myths” and you be inodated with information disputing the supposed effects of second hand smoke.

Regardless, imposing the state’s will over that of voluntary choices of patrons of the arts and the actors is downright silly. Both parties are able to make their own choices regarding their health risks without the great nanny John Suthers or the majority of Colorado’s Supreme Court. If the smoking ban does not bother you, just wait, the government will eventually find something to ban that you do like once, “the science is in.” For other Colorado Supreme Court silliness visit Clear The Bench Colorado and let’s vote these people out.
